How One Machine Changed Packaging Businesses around the Globe

With a very short period of seven years, a Houston firm is facilitated by a new approach of packaging snack items which helps it to become the most well-known national manufacturer in the market of machinery automatic packaging.

In 1958, W.C. Leasure set up Mira Pak Inc. with a small building which was not even 1,000 square feet. But now that small-sized firm has grown up with 100,000 square feet at 7000 Ardmore. Though Mira-Pak earned a share of 2 cents in the first year yet in the last year it made a huge profit of 33 cents a share with 40 % profit in this fiscal year. Moreover, another Houston business of delivering packaging machinery parts earns almost $2 million in a year. These packaging machinery does business globally. As it has a legal pact with a West German firm, so the machinery is being prepared there. This results to achieve a particular packaging machinery of German in an enriched way.

Mira-Pak Is on the Verge of Spreading and Cultivating Itself

Leasure declared that Mira-Pak is now wide-spreading itself by taking the deal of packaging for the other firms in an individual plant and also is aiming for its upcoming project of an entire approach to the packaging difficulties. Dynomax Inc. is another Houston firm has prepared a part of food processing tool which will counterpart in the packaging system. $150,000 will the total transaction after completing 2 years. Mira-Pak has financed $800,000 by taking a loan of $600,000 from a native bank to expand.

Company is now trying to get a machine which can package its products automatically and of course in the same way. The food business tycoons like- Frito-Lay, Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. (A&P stores), Pet Milk Co. and Borden Foods are in the list of Mira-Pak’s customers. Hence Leasure stated that most probably Mira-Pak would be the leading manufacturer in the snacks foods business of machinery automatic packaging.

Focus to the Suppliers

G & H Tool Co., B&W Machine Co., Ambox Inc., Wade Machine Works and B. W. January Machine Co. are in the list of Houston’s 25 suppliers from whom the Ardmore plant is now gathering the packaging machines components.

This new division of contract packaging has given an authentic extension to Mira-Pak’s trade. Earlier to this, Mira-Pak used to supply machineries by which different firms might develop their commerce. But now Mira-Pak will start making packing for them. In this regard, Pharmaceutical packaging is the main focus of increasing contract department’s revenue.

In a brief, though Mira-Pak started with a small shape yet it didn’t take much time to flourish itself in the global market. The global market of machinery automatic packaging, snacks foods industry and also very recently in the pharmaceutical industry.
